Early brest cancer detection though the training of visually impaired women
Pretac+’s ‘Discovering Hands’ project encourages early detection of breast cancer by making breast screening more accessible to the female population. Pretac+’s innovative model leverages the highly developed sense of touch of visually impaired women, who are able to detect three times more abnormalities than normal people, to boosts chances of survival for breast cancer patients.
Pretac+’s examinations are carried about by specially trained visually impaired women, who are taught by medical staff how to screen for abnormalities that need further testing. The initiative will empower visually impaired women by offering them paid employment for which they are perfectly suited, offering them an opportunity for increased independence and autonomy.Expand / Collapse
