We have been working with the National Autistic Society (NAS) since 2011 to help them research, prototype, launch and scale up a new online autism training business for healthcare professionals.
The Trafigura Foundation first became involved with the National Autistic Society in 2011 when we agreed to fully fund the creation of a new e-learning zone for healthcare professionals and social workers. These stakeholders wanted to increase their knowledge of autism and their capacity to approach the topic.
"Ask Autism" uses an innovative co-production model in which people with autism spectrum conditions work together with the NAS in an equal and reciprocal relationship. The training and support modules are developed and delivered by adults with autism, providing clear employment opportunities for them.
The three-phase project began with a market research and initial prototyping phase, which was completed in March 2013. During this phase a total of 333 potential users from within health and social care, and the corporate sector, were surveyed. Not only did this give NAS valuable feedback, but it boosted our sales prospects.
As well the financial support, the Trafigura team in London, via the Charity Committee, has really taken the project to heart. Local staff members have given their time and expert advice throughout its development. Oma Gibbons and Mark Swift lent their project development, HR, Learning and Development and IT expertise to help shape it. Together, NAS and Trafigura staff interpreted market research and selected multi award-winning e-learning developers to effectively roll out the platform.Expand / Collapse
