The Trafigura Foundation donates to SEEDS to aid the communities affected by floods in Kerala, India
In 2018 the region of Kerala, India, experienced the worst floods in a century. Massive flooding and landslides caused the displacement of more than 1 million people and disrupted the livelihoods of thousands of families overnight.
The Trafigura Foundation donated USD50,000 to the Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS), a not-for-profit organisation that enables community resilience through practical solutions in disaster readiness, response and rehabilitation.
SEEDS helped families with immediate relief assistance and ensured the survival of the most vulnerable by providing health services, family shelter kits and basic school kits. It also supported the affected communities with temporary shelters in which a dignified and safe family life can be ensured until permanent houses are rebuilt.
