Portraits
Welcome to our series "Portraits" that pays a tribute to the impactful and often visionary work of the organisations we support.
Our "Portraits" tell the true stories of the beneficiaries our partners stand for. By presenting their lives, aspirations and challenges, we want to raise their voices so they can become an example and inspiration for social change.

“The path to success is not a straight line. Life is not always rosy and the road to achieve your goal is full of troubles and challenges”. With a handful of words, Mohammed resumes the frustrating experience of being a young and motivated man in Egypt who struggles to find a decent job.
After his graduation, Mohammed spent almost three years without finding an employment up to his ambitions and principles. “I have worked in several informal, unprofessional and unethical environments where I couldn’t find any personal growth or a supportive workplace able to understand my family obligations, as my father passed away and my mother suffers from a chronic illness”.
One day, he discovered Education For Employment (EFE)’s Egypt training programme and applied to it. With a consolidated experience in training and job placement in Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Yemen and Jordan, EFE empowers young people like Mohammed with industry-relevant skills requested by the private sector. This market-oriented approach ensures EFE’s capacity to successfully offer fair career opportunities to its graduates.
Mohammed’s determination paid off. He followed a two-month training of over 280 hours that provided him with an effective learning experience based on an on-the-job training approach.
After the training, EFE’s job placement helped Mohammed find a first employment as International Account Advisor in one of MENA’s most important Contact Centres. This crucial experience helped him get a foothold on the job market and finally launch his career.
Today, Mohammed is Enterprise Customer Service and Telesales Team Leader at Sunny World, an Egyptian company leader in the field of solar energy. This role is not only providing him with a decent salary: it is nurturing him with the satisfaction, pride and professional growth he was aiming for.
Grateful for the support and resources received from EFE, Mohammed is keen on helping other young people experiencing the same difficulties he once faced. “I made a promise to myself to help youth across MENA, by providing them with all the positive conditions they need to obtain a fair job”.
