Dario Soto-Abril will start leading the Trafigura Foundation in April 2023 following the retirement of Vincent Faber

The Trafigura Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Dario Soto-Abril as its new Executive Director. Dario will assume his new role in April 2023, succeeding Vincent Faber who will retire after leading the Foundation for the past 15 years.
Dario is currently the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Global Water Partnership. Dario also serves as the Chair for the Global Commons Alliance. Previously, he was the Global CEO of Fairtrade International. He brings with him a wealth of experience that will help the Foundation develop its new strategic vision towards a climate-conscious portfolio of partnerships.

About Dario Soto-Abril
In his position as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Water Partnership, Dario Soto-Abril has been leading a global action network with over 3,000 Partner organisations in 179 countries, to solve water resources management challenges across the world. In his role of Chair of the Global Commons Alliance, Dario provides strategic direction in setting planetary boundaries for businesses and governments ensuring all humans thrive and prosper on a stable, resilient planet
Soto-Abril has also served as Global CEO at Fairtrade International (2017-2021), where he steered a process of transformation that resulted in a greater focus on impact priorities, delivering positive change for more than 5 million people in agricultural communities around the globe.
Soto-Abril spent the first part of his career as a corporate lawyer before moving to The Trust for the Americas, the non-profit affiliate of the Organization of American States (OAS) where he spent 14 years as the Deputy Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer. During his time at The Trust/OAS, he led the expansion from three to 22 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, building coalitions and public-private partnerships around free trade, workers’ rights, and human rights.
Soto-Abril has a Law degree from Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), a Masters of Law from Tulane University (New Orleans), and a Master’s in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
